Transfer wonder zoo game to new device6/11/2023 The Navigator app includes activity schedules and menus, and has a kind of text message feature that seems to work much better these days. There is a Disney Cruise Navigator app that you can use on most iPhones and Android phones without needing to pay for internet access. Make sure you turn off the cellular service on your phone while you’re at sea, so you don’t end up paying through the nose for “cellular at sea” service. Hopefully this new proceedure will continue to be used, because it’s great. This is, needless to say, much easier than the old way where everyone had to huddle on the deck at 4:00 and suffer through a long safety announcement and demo. Because of Covid, Disney changed their muster procedures so there’s a mandatory safety video on your cabin TV on embarkation day that you can’t skip or turn off until it’s finished, and you are required to check in at your muster station some time between embarkation and sail away (typically about 4:30). “Forward” is obvious “aft” is the rear of the ship.Ĭruise Lines are required to ensure that every passenger knows the safety procedures and has been physically shown where they need to muster in case of emergency. “Port” is the left side of the ship as you face forward “starboard” is the right side as you face forward. “Embarkation” means getting on the ship for the first time during your cruise “disembarkation” or “debarkation” means getting off the ship at the end of your cruise.

1080p grid autosport6/11/2023 I actually struggled for quite a while to get even close to first place, and I still struggle at times now. I have to say, that on Medium difficulty settings I am finding the AI drivers to be quite good. Getting to grips with that will take quite some time. Not only that, but each racing category has a completely different set of cars and they handle differently. The main thing about the game is careful braking, this is what I’ve found to be the hardest thing to get to grips with, especially as I don’t drive in “real life”. I find I become more immersed in the racing world having these targets, and I think it’s a really great thing to have other than just trying to always be number one. Each team will give you different targets, which will enable you to get varying levels of experience in each racing category. What I really like about the game, is the ability to choose teams for each event. The game is nothing close to as arcade as DiRT Showdown is, and while GRID Autosport isn’t exactly a full simulator it’s a lot closer than we have ever been to having one before. It’s another reason why I am so very happy it’s here. I actually own the original GRID, and I really quite liked it and missed the experience quite a lot now being a full Linux gamer. It took me quite a while to actually get to grips with how different a racer this game is. GRID Autosport is a very different beast, and it won’t let you just power around corners like you can in DiRT. If you played DiRT Showdown, be prepared to unlearn it. It will certainly be interesting to see his results, as he now mainly uses the open source driver. I am looking forward to seeing Samsai’s performance report on his AMD 370. The Nvidia 970 performs fine in all cases, and a rather old Nvidia 560ti paired with an AMD processor can work with Medium settings, not a bad port really. This should give you an idea of the power needed. It was barely playable, without even looking at an FPS counter you could see it was terribly sluggish. Even the main menu took a long time to respond. I did two extra tests here on 720p to see if it made a difference.ġ080p, On Ultra preset, with advanced lighting on, soft AO on, global illumination and 8XMSAA: > SteamOS, AMD FX-8320 + Nvidia 560ti (graphics card that is below their minimum requirements). > Ubuntu 15.10, Intel i5 4670k, Nvidia 970ġ080p, On Ultra preset, with advanced lighting on, soft AO on, global illumination and 8xMSAA: The track used in the benchmark is pretty heavy in general. It should be noted, as always, that benchmarks are stress-tests, and real-world performance is generally better. Although they are mighty expensive, so it won’t be a purchase soon. That’s pretty damn awesome to be able to do it on Linux, and I’m looking at investing in some to try it for fun. I haven’t personally been able to test them, but GRID Autosport does support pad and wheels for the authentic driving feel. It’s nice that games can cater to different uses like this one can. I do like the fact that in desktop mode I get a launcher I can change settings with, but on SteamOS or Big Picture mode with Steam it boots directly into the game. Feral Interactive are unable to support those chips currently, so buy it at your own peril. It doesn’t support AMD or Intel again sadly, so it may work, it may not. That’s probably the most important thing, that you have a good experience, and not what your FPS counter actually says (stop staring at it!). I have been able to play it for extended periods on Ultra settings without a stutter that I can detect. Like all of Feral Interactive ports, it won’t perform at Windows level performance, but it is a very smooth port. They each give you 2% more XP for turning them off too, handy. I’ve been driving without Stability Control, Cornering Assist, Racing Line and Steering Assist. View cookie preferences.Īccept Cookies & Show Direct Link I am playing it with many driving assists turned off, as it makes it more fun. New iphone 12 colors pro max6/11/2023 It’s great for capturing city shots or large trees, or anytime you want more in the shot.Īlong with the physical hardware, Apple has three proprietary technologies on the software side that work in tandem. And this lens lets you capture way more in a shot. Rounding out the camera system is a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field of view. But it does let you capture more details without physically moving. It’s not a wildly big jump to 10x optical zoom or even a mixture of 50x zoom like we’ve seen from Samsung. On the iPhone 12 Pro Max, that jumps to 2.5x, thanks to a 65mm focal length (up from a 52mm focal length on the 12 Pro). For a while, Apple has opted for a dependable 2x optical zoom on models that feature the telephoto. The 12-megapixel telephoto shooter is finally getting improved on an iPhone. On the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the wide lens will actually move the sensor to decrease shakes or blurs in the image. Traditionally, the image stabilization moves the lens to counteract the movement of the phone. That wide lens is paired with sensor-shift optical image stabilization. A wider sensor can capture more details, which should lead to better photos. The main shooter on the iPhone 12 Pro Max is a 12-megapixel wide lens with a ƒ/1.6 aperture (that’s improved from ƒ/1.8 on iPhone 11 Pro Max and delivers better low-light performance), but equally important is the fact that it’s a 47% larger sensor than on the 12 Pro. It’s the main appeal of the Pro family and started with the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, and it’s on par with other phones from Samsung and LG. Those three lenses aim to give you three different ways to frame and capture a moment all with one device. The camera module houses three lenses, an LED flash, a LiDAR sensor and a microphone. Given the supersized nature of this device at 6.33 inches tall and 3.07 inches wide, it’s a large camera module. On the rear of the 12 Pro Max is a camera module in the top-left corner. Play of all kinds has mental health benefits-it’s why play therapy has been used to help kids since the days of Freud, back when psychology was a new and emerging field. What Are the Mental Health Benefits of D&D? Thanks to pop culture, D&D is cool again, and being played by more young people than ever. Finally, podcasts like The Adventure Zone and Critical Role are bringing younger, more diverse people into a game that might have formerly been associated with older guys playing in a basement. Although it isn’t D&D specific, TV shows like Game of Thrones have also made fantasy stories cool, and helped to bring previously “nerdy” interests into the mainstream. Although the show is set in the 80s, the teen characters’ obsession with D&D has piqued the interest of 2020’s kids. Why is D&D Having a Moment Right Now?Īlthough D&D has always been popular in geek culture, it’s enjoying a moment right now due to the popularity of Netflix’s hit show, Stranger Things. This can lead to surprising, funny, and even touching moments during game play that could never have been planed in advance. It’s not competitive, and there are no winners or losers: everyone works together toward a common goal. To add an element of chance to the game, players then have to roll a die to see how well their plan works. Then, it’s up to the players to decide how their character would act in a given situation. The game is facilitated by a lead player, called the Dungeon Master, who describes situations for the players and asks them how they’d like to proceed. What makes D&D and other roleplaying games unique is that the players improvise to create a story together, and their choices affect what happens next. Unlike most other games, there is no set path to take, and characters don’t just progress along spaces on a board. Players in D&D take on the role of a character in a fantasy world, and they collaborate with other players to pursue a goal, collect treasure, or defeat bad guys. It was invented by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in 1974, so it’s been around for a while and has built up a large following of devoted players. What Is Dungeons and Dragons?ĭungeons and Dragons, also known as D&D, is the most popular tabletop roleplaying game on the planet. In this post I’ll unpack how D&D is used in group therapy, and why it can be a benefit for mental health. Dungeons and Dragons and other roleplaying games are increasingly popular tools in group therapy can help players improve their emotional and social well-being. Maybe it’s not surprising, then, that Dungeons and Dragons is experiencing a revival during the pandemic.Īlthough it may seem surprising at first, it makes sense that people are turning to D&D during stressful times. Many people are craving an escape from real-life stress and looking for ways to connect with friends that feel more personal than texting. "You need a diversity of tools, skills and experiences to succeed.During quarantine, many of us have been looking for activities to fill our stay-at-home time that feel more rewarding and productive than endless Netflix streaming. It's impossible, and much less fun, to do everything by yourself," he said. Teamwork is criticalĭr Olsen said it was vital for players to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their teammates. "So that's really relevant to us in the workplace," Dr Olsen said. He said while there was not yet extensive research, studies so far showed the game helped children improve their communication, self-awareness and critical thinking skills, and adults' team-building abilities developed by playing it. "I was thinking, surely some of these skills are transferable to the workplace, and sure enough there have been people who have written about this," Dr Olsen said. The game centres on one player becoming a dungeon master who "sets the stage" while the other teammates work together to move through challenges set by the master. Jesse Olsen says to play the game well means understanding someone else's perspective.

Thus, to add a new capability to it just requires figuring out that new capability and all the rest (loading the configuration file, figuring out how to send and receive messages, running as a service, handling signals from the OS, thread management, etc.) is already done for you. Communicators are independent so with the one exception it doesn’t matter what sensor_reporter uses to send and receive messages. So it has a core that is reused by everything. I wrote sensor_reporter to be modular so I only have to figure out how to do things once. However, because of the dynamic nature of the Govee add-on, I don’t have a good way to use that communicator with it so for now MQTT is the only choice for that specific sensor. But sensor_reporter has another openHAB communicator that uses the openHAB REST API and SSE feed to send/receive Item states. In particular the LWT and careful use of retained messages and the fact that it’s a standard not tied to any specific home automation system makes it very powerful. MQTT has some advantages that make me choose it over other options most of the time. Would MQTT be necessary, and simpler than, say, triggering something over the REST API? (At least as a first step.)

I like Keep It – it’s the most iOS-like reference manager currently on the market – but I’ve long wished it could create notes and reliably append data to existing notes without having to use x-callback-url. Keep It is part of the problem due to its limited adoption of Siri shortcuts in iOS 12 (even after version 1.6 – see footnote above). The way I see it, URL schemes are well past their prime: they kind of made sense years ago when iOS lacked any effective means to exchange data between apps, but now between Shortcuts’ support for web APIs and Siri shortcuts based on the system clipboard, URL schemes feel like a legacy, primitive technology. I prefer actions that run inside the extension and don’t force me to dance around multiple apps. I use the Shortcuts extension a lot and, whenever possible, I prefer using actions that complete a task without leaving the extension, the share sheet, and the app I’m currently using. That was the beginning of a note-taking vision quest that culminated in this column, even though I’m not sure I reached the destination I was originally seeking.įirst, let me start from the problem. But then I remembered that Keep It’s integration with Shortcuts was limited to URL schemes and that the app did not offer Siri shortcuts to append content to existing notes 1. Simple enough, right?
